Stay Informed about State and Local Tax Changes
While Intuit QuickBooks Payroll helps with federal tax forms processing, don’t forget to stay up-to-date with your state and local tax forms. Using an old or outdated tax form can cause problems that are difficult to fix after you have filed.
December is the time of year that many state and local agencies make changes to their forms. Intuit Payroll recommends that you keep informed by paying attention to information your business may receive from state and local tax agencies, and then downloading the latest forms and instructions.
The Federation of Tax Administrators, an organization that serves the principal tax collection agencies in all 50 states, provides a comprehensive list of state and local tax agencies linked from an interactive map. To find your state and the latest tax processing information, start here: http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/link/.
Throughout tax year-end, you may receive periodic notices from Intuit QuickBooks Payroll about updates to federal or state tax rates or forms. These notices may contain information about actions you should take to ensure you are in compliance with new regulations. Please make sure that you have your spam filter set to accept e-mail from QuickBooks Payroll, so that you continue to receive these notices.
