Electronically File Third Quarter Payroll Tax Returns from within Your QuickBooks
While you build and develop your business, time is money. Intuit QuickBooks Payroll understands this and has a solution to make some of the time-consuming tasks for payroll and payroll tax filing simple and easy—file and pay your payroll taxes electronically from within QuickBooks. E-File & Pay is included at no additional cost with your Enhanced Payroll subscription.
How It Works
All the information needed to file your return and make your payments is inside your QuickBooks company file. Using E-File & Pay saves time and ensures your information is secure, because your payments and filings are encrypted and transmitted electronically to the agencies. You receive confirmation about the status of your submissions in QuickBooks and via e-mail. Plus, you save paper by printing only the forms you need for your records. All of these benefits also help reduce your impact on the environment.
Important Reminder for E-Pay Users: Verify Your Bank Account
When using E-Pay, verify your bank account by making sure that you have entered the correct routing number and bank account number in QuickBooks. This information is transmitted with your e-payments to allow the agency to debit your bank account.
The following best practices will help ensure accuracy and expediency when you enter your bank account information:
- Enter account information EXACTLY as it appears. Account numbers sometimes have leader zeros, dashes, or spaces that you should include when you enter your account information in QuickBooks.
- Note that routing/transit numbers are ALWAYS nine digits. Although the length and style of account numbers can vary, the routing/transit number (which usually appears before the account number on the bottom of your check) is always nine digits.
- Verify your routing and account number with your bank. For some business accounts, the routing number for electronic payments is not the same as the one that appears on your check. If you have been notified that your account number is incorrect, contact your banker to verify your account number.
