Getting More Out of QuickBooks Payroll

Special Features for Accountants

QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants has been tailored to meet the unique requirements of accountants performing payroll for clients. Two key new features are after-the-fact payroll and client-ready reports. QuickBooks 2007 is required for these features, which are available only in QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants.

After-the-Fact Payroll

The after-the-fact payroll feature gives you an efficient method for entering payroll data from paychecks that clients have prepared themselves. Now you can use one simple spreadsheet-style data entry screen to enter after-the-fact payroll, and you can customize the data entry columns so they match the sequence of data provided in your clients' payroll data records. Data from an employee's last paycheck can be automatically copied into the current period. QuickBooks will automatically identify errors in gross-to-net calculations and in fixed-percentage withholdings, such as Social Security or Medicare.

These capabilities can help you more quickly and accurately capture and (if necessary) correct the payroll data of your customers in QuickBooks, saving you time and money in data entry. Producing timely and accurate tax filings and payments also becomes easier.

Client-Ready Reports

Now you can give your clients professional-looking payroll reports and analyses that print out with just a few keystrokes. By using seven preconfigured reports that print on standard paper, you can help your clients understand all the details of their payroll. The reports include the following:

  • Payroll activity by employee—View details of payroll expense items for a given pay period, month, quarter, or year-to-date. You and your client can see a by-employee view of earnings, employee-paid taxes, additions and deductions (such as 401(k) and insurance), and company-paid taxes and contributions.
  • Payroll expense analysis—Use these reports to help you and your client review payroll expenses by expense item and over time.
  • Payroll tax reports—Help your client understand payroll taxes accrued, taxes paid, and any unpaid tax liability.

Other Features to Help Accountants

In addition to the after-the-fact payroll and client-ready reports features, you can use QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants to download the latest tax tables, help clients file and pay state and federal taxes accurately and on time, and manage as many as 50 EINs with just one subscription. QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants makes it easy to provide a more complete, professional, and profitable payroll service to clients.
