Help Your Clients Avoid Interruptions to Their Payroll Service Subscriptions

QuickBooks 2008 has many new improvements, including a revamped in-product experience that will allow QuickBooks Payroll customers to use their payroll subscription without any interruption in service. By maintaining the up-to-date customer information required for subscription renewal, you and your clients will continue to receive accurate tax tables, paycheck calculations, and payroll tax forms.

QuickBooks Payroll offers subscription services that are renewed every year. Currently, when these services lapse due to incorrect or incomplete billing information, a customer can be caught unaware that their subscription has expired. If that occurs and the business continues to process payroll with outdated tax tables, that business may no longer be in compliance with government regulations. This can lead to time-consuming payroll mistakes that you as the accountant may have to identify and correct on behalf of your clients.

With QuickBooks 2008, new messaging within the Payroll Center will help keep you and your clients active on QuickBooks Payroll. The improvements will also ensure that the annual renewal process is easy and seamless.

In QuickBooks 2008, product messages will notify the QuickBooks Payroll user when their:

  • Credit card has expired
  • Credit card is absent
  • Auto-renewal date is near
  • Payroll service status has changed

If the Payroll customer does not successfully renew, they won't be able to use QuickBooks for:

  • Automatic paycheck calculations, including payroll taxes
  • Automatically prepared federal forms (currently, Enhanced Payroll users who do not successfully renew also lose access to their state forms)

The improvements coming in QuickBooks 2008 should prevent unnecessary lapses or interruptions to payroll service, and will ensure that you and your clients remain compliant with up-to-date payroll tax tables.
