We have added some valuable new features in QuickBooks Payroll 2007, and you'll notice that the Pay Employees workflow has been updated as well. Customers are telling us that this has been a big adjustment! For QuickBooks Direct Deposit Customers

QuickBooks Payroll will not process direct deposits on Monday, May 28, 2007, because of the Federal Reserve Bank's observance of the Memorial Day holiday. To comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act, you might need to send your direct deposit payroll earlier than usual.

Important Payroll Dates

I Do My Own Tax Filings

April 2, 2007: Deadline (extended from Feb. 28) to file Forms W-2 or W-2G—if you file electronically.

April 30, 2007: Deadline to file Form 941 for first quarter 2007.

April 30, 2007: Deadline to deposit FUTA tax owed through March if more than $500.

I Get Assistance with My Taxes

April 3, 2007: Deadline for making any changes to your first quarter payroll information. After April 3, all changes to payroll will require an amendment.

May 15, 2007: Assisted Payroll mails copies of your first quarter tax filings.

May 28, 2007: Banks, the Federal Reserve, and Assisted Payroll will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

April 17, 2007: Deadline for 2006 federal individual income tax returns, requests for an automatic six-month tax-filing extension, tax year 2006 balance due payments, tax year 2006 contributions to a Roth or traditional IRA, individual and corporate estimated tax payments for the first quarter of 2007, and individual refund claims for tax year 2003. For more information see IRS Publication 509.

March 13, 2007: Deadline for California employers directly affected by the January freeze to request up to a 60-day extension of time from the California Economic Development Department (EDD) to file their state payroll reports and deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest. If you are an Assisted Payroll customer, do not worry—we will file your returns on time. For more information, go to http://www.edd.ca.gov/eddemerdisaster4ers.htm.

April 2, 2007: Deadline (extended from Feb. 28) to file Forms 1098 and 1099—if you file electronically.

Holidays

April 16: Federal legal holiday—District of Columbia Emancipation Day (banks, the Federal Reserve, and Assisted Payroll will be open).

May 28, 2007: Federal Reserve bank holiday—Memorial Day.
