Payroll Changes: Be Prepared

Did you know that federal and state agencies have implemented over 50 payroll tax, unemployment insurance, and other changes so far that could affect your payroll? Expectations are that there will be more changes to payroll withholdings in 2004 as well. These include:

  • State specific changes to payroll tax withholding rates and wage bases.

  • Recent changes to federal forms, such as W-2, 940 and 941 forms that you need for filing throughout the year.

  • Changes to Social Security wage base and the Advanced Earned Income Credit.

As you prepare your payroll in 2004, make sure that you have the latest withholdings, wage limits, and payroll tax forms so your payroll is processed correctly each pay period. You should also verify with your employees that they have given you correct information (i.e., Social Security numbers, number of dependents) to ensure your payroll is accurate.

With QuickBooks Do-It-Yourself Payroll, you have that solution.
